Company

Frank Rennick & Co Pty Limited was founded in the late 1960's to specialise in the survey, design, and construction of flood irrigation projects. Originally established in Berrigan the firm now has offices in Berrigan and Barooga in the southern Riverina. The company has undertaken a great diversity of agricultural irrigation projects along the Murray and Murrumbidgee Rivers and their related irrigation water distribution systems.

Clients range from individual farmers, to corporate farming ventures and government water distribution agencies. The company pioneered the adoption of laser grade control technology which materially increased the efficiency of flood irrigation layouts and the productivity of the individual irrigation enterprises.

In recognition of this leadership, our founder, Frank Rennick, received an Advance Australia Award for Agriculture in 1988 to acknowledge his pioneering role in this new age of highly efficient flood irrigation.

Some of the key projects undertaken in this period were major irrigated pasture developments at prominent Riverina station properties including Gundaline, Boonoke-Wanganella and Bowen Stations. The area of activity also extends into Northern New South Wales. The company played a key role in the irrigation design and development of Collymongle Station, Collarenebri where Colly Farms operates Australia's largest irrigation cotton project embracing over 20,000 hectares of land with 65,000 megalitres of on farm storages.

The company continued to operate as a survey, design and construction contractor until 1993, when the decision was made to sell the extensive earthmoving equipment fleet and to concentrate solely on the survey and design of irrigation projects and their project management. During this period the company pioneered the use of GPS (Global Positioning System) survey equipment and sophisticated Computer Aided Design software for efficient survey of land to enable accurate irrigation design. This survey technology was applied on numerous individual farm properties in the Riverina, major agribusiness developments including the Ravensworth Feedlot near Hay, and also in the survey of new vineyard development projects for Southcorp Wines at Barooga, NSW, Orlando Wyndham at Cowra and Mudgee Vineyards at Mudgee.
